Junction North Gallery
In the Northern hemisphere, the North Star (or Polaris) is known as the guiding star in a night sky. Located nearest the north celestial pole, Polaris shows us where due north is and has been used historically as a way finder and reference point. Junction North Gallery, inspired by the North Star, is a hub and a reference point in Western Canada that brings together creative projects and emergent ideas from the fields of art, design and environmental studies.
What: Junction North Gallery (JN) is a pop-up art & craft gallery based in Calgary, Ab Canada. We offer exhibitions and workshops and feature a variety of sustainable living options including LED lighting, on-site recycling & composting and solar energy options where possible. Our mission is to tour to local and regional locations, festivals and events and to connect artworks with a wide range of community members and visitors in Alberta. Exhibitions and workshops are centred around themes such as contemporary landscape, cultural geography, space & place, the built and the natural environments, renewable energy, climate change, and up cycled or recycled materials. JN features a number of group or solo exhibitions of small-scale works per year, each lasting anywhere from one day to four weeks. Many works on exhibition will be offered for sale. Each contemporary art exhibition is created from juried calls for submission and from our own collection of contemporary art.
